Country of the Week: Algeria
General: Algeria is bordered on the west by Morocco and Western Sahara and on the east by Tunisia and Libya. The Mediterranean Sea is to the north, and to the south are Mauritania, Mali, and Niger. It is nearly four times the size of Texas and the largest country on the continent of Africa. The Saharan region, which is 85% of the country, is almost completely uninhabited. Algiers is the capital and largest city with 2,916,000 (est. in 2011).
Population: 40,633,000
Gospel Need: Largest religion is Islam
- Islam – 97.2%
- Evangelical (those who believe in salvation by faith in Jesus) – 0.2%
- Other – 2.5%
The Algerians in Algeria are less accessible to reach with the Gospel than the 4 million Algerians who reside in Europe. The need is Gospel preaching churches to be planted in the capital and around the country!
September 2015 Missions Letter
March 24, 2016
The date above may just be another day for many, but for our family it is a very special day, a day we have been working toward since March 17, 2014! Lord willing, on March 24 we will be leaving for Argentina! This date was chosen after prayer and consideration of the remaining support we need. God is blessing, we have more to go, and we believe in these last months God will raise our needed support. Please pray for us that we will see this happen by March.
August was an incredible month. We were in 6 different states presenting our burden for Argentina. We had several churches partner with us this month in reaching Argentina! September has us in 6 different states as well. We have several mission conferences during this month. Our hope is that God will work in the hearts of His people to further the Gospel in our Generation. With each meeting we are drawing closer to the conclusion of our deputation.

In Argentina
I read the caption a few weeks ago in August, “More than 11,000 people had been evacuated by Tuesday (August 11, 2015) from parts of Argentina’s largest province after heavy weekend rains caused rivers to rise quickly.” These floods that hit Argentina every so often are hard on the Argentines. Their lives are totally changed. One woman’s testimony was that this was the third time she has had to leave her home because of flooding. In tragic times like this, a Gospel-preaching church could be there for these communities in an effort to advance the Gospel. That would be great if there were churches like ours in their neighborhoods. For many Argentines, there is no Baptist church to help them. Pray with us for Gospel laborers.
Friday Quick Update: North Carolina in the Morning and the Night
Where We Have Been: We were in Baton Rouge, LA on Wednesday night. Pastor Buchanan and the church were very kind to us. I was able to present and preach. I had several of the church tell me that God worked in their hearts. To God be the glory.
Where We Are Going: We will be in Kings Mountain, NC this Sunday morning and in Sylva, NC this Sunday evening. I very much enjoy what God is leading us to do. Sharing our hearts with fellow believers is something we feel very blessed to do.
