A Quick Visit to Argentina

Faith Baptist Church in Lanús, Argentina is doing great! In March they resumed the weekly women’s prayer meeting/Bible Study as well as had a special men’s meeting. The highlight of the month was the annual “Levi’s Banquet” at the end of the month. 

April is a very special month because we are back in Argentina for two weeks. We are here to check up on the ministry and help the guys who are in leadership. We are starting off our time in Argentina with our “Spiritual Growth Conference”. I am so thankful to be able to see the church family and how God is working in the lives of our brothers and sisters in Christ. We will also have our annual baby dedication Sunday while we are here. Matías, the young man pastoring the church, and his wife will be dedicating their son Giovani to the Lord! There are other families who will be dedicating their children to the Lord as well! This will be a special service. 

We will be returning to the United States just before Easter. The church will be having their special Easter Services starting off with the Lord’s Supper service on Thursday. The Friday night service is traditionally one of our biggest services of the year. This is going to be a great month! Thank you for praying for us and the ministry in Argentina.

Prayer Requests

• Pray for our time in Argentina.
• Pray for Matías and Eric as they continue to pastor the church.
• Pray for our Spiritual Growth Conference.
• Pray for our Easter services.
• Pray for our furlough travels. 

Before going on furlough, we had missionary friends that have been on the field for multiple terms who told us it would be wise to take a quick trip back to the field to check on the church, encourage the leaders and the church family, and to try to take care of any problems that may have arisen during our absence.

Leslie and I arrived to Argentina yesterday morning to do just as our veteran missionary friends have counseled us. We have just over two weeks here and our time will be been filled with lots of many ministry opportunities. We started our annual “Spiritual Growth Conference”. It will continue tonight and will end on Sunday. We will be hosting a class during the following week for the church family. I will be teaching on biblical stewardship for the week. We also have a baby dedication service the next Sunday. So far we have two families who will be dedicating their children to raise them for Jesus.

There is so much to do and so much to be thankful for. Pray for us as we encourage the leadership in the church, teach Bible truths, and give counsel on how to continue to advance the gospel.

I am so grateful for technology! It is no substitute for in-person conversations but it is a great tool. Each Tuesday a few of the guys in the ministry in Argentina and I get together via video chat and talk about the past week, upcoming events, blessings and problems that have occurred in the ministry, and about anything else going on. That meeting happens on Tuesdays. I look forward to talking with the men who are pastoring and guiding the church about the services on yesterday and the special event coming up in a week. They are doing a great job and I am thankful to be able to rejoice with them over the wonderful things going on at Faith Baptist Church in Lanús, Buenos Aires.

I was able to be at our home church yesterday morning and had a meeting in east Georgia with a supporting church for the evening service. I will be with another supporting church tonight in south Atlanta. We will be starting a mission conference in the midwest on Wednesday. God is so good to allow us to be with supporting churches and new churches we have never been in before. Thank you for praying for us!

The men of the church will be having a special men’s fellowship tomorrow. These meetings are great for the men to grow in friendship and in faith. Also, the ladies have started their weekly prayer meetings again. On Tuesdays, the ladies of the church come together to pray and study the Bible together. Both of these events for the men and the women are times of growth and unity.

We will be in in western North Carolina this weekend to present what God is doing in the ministry in Argentina. Thank you for praying for us.
