Christmas Celebration and Coming to the End of 2023

November was our missions month and we had a wonderful mission conference with guest pastor, Hernan Cortez of Berean Baptist Church in Berisso. I believe the church was challenged and encouraged by Pastor Hernan. The guys who are training in the Bible College also came over last month for our annual planning day, a time when we plan the following year. I was able to do some vision casting and encouragement in each of their specific ministries that they are leading. There is much to do and we are excited about it!

We will have our big Christmas service this month. Traditionally it is one of our most attended services of the year. We will have banners hung up across streets, and special invitations to give to family and friends. Please pray for this special event. We are praying for souls to be saved. Our Evangelism ministry is going well and we have the goal of handing an invitation out to every house within a kilometer of our church (this will be thousands and thousands of houses)! We still have a long way to go before we achieve this goal, pray for us in this evangelistic outreach. We will end the year with our “Empanada Night”, something the church has come to love! Pray with us that we finish this year in a way that glorifies God in every way! Thank you for praying for us!

Tomorrow is an important day in Argentina, it is the day that they will elect their president. Voting is obligatory in Argentina, because of this we will not able to have our morning service tomorrow (according to law). With this in mind, we will have the service this evening. This is the third and final Election Day we have had in the past four months, it is an important moment in the nation’s history (inflation rates are over 120%, making Argentina the nation with the third highest inflation rate in the world). On top of that, the progressive views of LGBTQ+ have gained ground and are starting to be pushed more and more and taught in schools. This election may help determine how these issues continue. Even so, we know that Jesus is the answer to these issues! Please pray for this special service and for the election tomorrow!

We started our annual mission conference last night with Pastor Hernan Cortez of Berean Baptist Church in Berea. Pastor Hernan was a wonderful blessing, he told us how he was the product of missions. Pastor Hernan came to Argentina from Peru to try to find work, while here, missionary Jeffrey Bush led him to Jesus! Pastor Hernan preached to us on the importance of having compassion for others. We will continue the mission conference tonight and will conclude it on Sunday with our international lunch! Please pray for the mission conference!

We will also have a men’s meeting on Saturday, this is a wonderful time of fellowship and encouragement for the men of the church. We hope to also have some men visit for the first time! Please pray for the men’s meeting!

A Vision for the World

We had a wonderful Spiritual Growth Conference with Michael Long last month. I was encouraged, as were the other believers at Faith Baptist Church. Brother Long also brought a group with him for a mission trip, during the week, we saw six people saved! We were all encouraged by the group who served by song, by translating, by preaching and teaching! This month, the men training in the Bible College also took the lead by serving and guiding specific ministries in the church, including outreach, youth group, and teaching and preaching.

This month we will have our Mission Conference, when we focus on the need around the world. It is actually something we do each week, focusing in on a local county in greater Buenos Aires, a province in Argentina, and another country somewhere else in the world. Even so, Mission Conference is special. We will have a guest preacher from Beriso who will be preaching part of the conference. We will end the conference with our annual international lunch, with foods from around the world! Faith Baptist Church has come to love Mission Conference and we are grateful for how the Lord is using the church to reach others, not only in our area, but also in other countries around the world!
