The Ministry in Quarantine

We have been in quarantine for over 6 months now! The devil is attacking, but God is blessing. While some in the Faith Baptist Church have fallen into sin, and others have grown more and more discouraged, others still are growing and taking massive steps forward! There are all kinds of rumors as to when the quarantine will end and will the country will finally open up. As of yet nothing is confirmed. Even so, the ministry continues on. I would like to share two examples to illustrate God’s goodness.

Two young men who were attending the church before the quarantine now are stepping in to serve. I have seen the spiritual growth of both young men during these six months, and they both express the desire to step out more. 

Even though we cannot meet, the church still has bills we have to pay. Obviously, they are much less than normal, but we have to pay them. To make matters worse Argentina is in the beginning of an economic crisis! Many brothers and sisters in the church have faithfully given during these six months. This is a small, but important issue that shows they are taking the responsibility to sustain the church seriously. God is working and we are blessed!

Today is a rainy day in Buenos Aires. The quarantine has been extended to October 11. Even though we cannot meet, I am able to spend time in the homes of those who attend the church. I have been able to start up discipleship with several in the church. Leslie will be starting a Ladies Bible Study and a separate book study with some of the ladies in the church. She also will be starting discipleship with a few ladies via Zoom. This weekend includes…

• Friday Night Youth Service (via Zoom)
• Leandro starts discipleship with his brother/brother’s girlfriend (both were saved last Saturday)
• Sunday morning service (live service via YouTube and Facebook). Eric will be preaching a 6 minute message during the service, his second time doing so).

God is working even in the quarantine. Yesterday marked 6 months under quarantine in Argentina. On Friday, the President extended the quarantine another 3 weeks. We are not able to meet as a church. We still have our virtual services each week. The devil is attacking, and God is at work!

Yesterday afternoon I sat at the table of Leandro, a brother in Christ. He has been witnessing to one of his brothers and the brother’s girlfriend. The couple is now in their late 40’s and early 50’s. Leandro invited me over to share the Gospel with them. After about an hour, both Ricardo and Nancy believed on Jesus for their salvation. It was a sweet time for all!

Today during our Sunday morning service, Eric, another brother in the church who is growing in the faith, preached a 10 minute message for the first time. This was a huge step for him and shows how much he is growing.

Please pray for Ricardo and Nancy as they begin their new lives in Jesus, pray for Leandro as he continues to grow in the faith and begins discipleship with them this week, and for Eric as he continues to grow in the faith and in serving Jesus.

One of the great things about serving Jesus is witnessing Jesus work in the lives of others. We have two young men who were attending the church before the quarantine. Neither of the two were very faithful. God has worked in their hearts during the quarantine. I am able to talk with them 2-3 times per week and I am watching God work in them. Both are becoming faithful. Both are growing, both want to serve Jesus! I am watching both step out and serve, even during these time when we cannot have services. While some are discouraged, others are growing in Jesus! Please pray all those who we have been able to have an influence in their lives. I believe Satan is attacking and I believe God is working!

The Quarantine

We are still in quarantine, there are all kinds of rumors ranging from the country opening up in October to perhaps the first part of 2021. In quarantine or out, we are continuing to serve Jesus!
