June 2015 Missions Letter

June 1, 2015 by Patrick Leave a Comment

Summer Begins

The summer months are typically harder to schedule meetings on deputation.  Summers are busy with vacations, Vacation Bible Schools, Summer Camps, and many times come with a dip in church attendance.  We are grateful to God that our Summer is completely scheduled out!  We will not be slowing down at all this Summer.

In June, we have our annual Our Generation Summer Camp.  This is for Middle School, High School, and College age young men and women.  Please pray that God use the week to call these believers as missionaries to countries around the world!  We have young men and women enrolled in the Our Generation Training Center that were at this camp last year!  Our camp is unique in that it is mission focused.  There will be missionaries present who will be spending time with those who attend the camp.  This is an opportunity to build relationships with those God is using to reach the world!  Please pray for fruit!

Serving Together,

Patrick, Leslie, Lily, Piper, and Ivy Henry

Meanwhile in Argentina…

During our 14 months of deputation, what has transpired in Argentina?  According to CIA Factbook, in 2014 there were 314,077 people that died!  When you take that number and reduce it down, it brings us to an average of 35 people each hour who died in Argentina.  Every hour on the road, every church service we are in, every hour of sleep in mission houses, hotels, and homes of church members, every hour means another 35 people have passed from Argentina to eternity!  35 more people are now either in the presence of Jesus or in Hell.  This is incredible considering that 9% of the population profess faith in Jesus.  91% of the people in Argentina are lost!  When we take that information along with the death rate, we see that of the 35 people that die each hour, over 31 of them go to Hell!  We need to be in Argentina.  Pray with us that God will raise the remainder of our needed support quickly.

Our Generation Camp 2015

May 27, 2015 by Patrick Leave a Comment

Why “Our Generation Camp”?  There are all kinds of camps to go to, all kinds of camps to send your kids to, what makes this camp different?  Let me answer this question by first stating that I have been to several different camps.  Our church has put on our own camps for years.  We have sent our youth and kids to other camps as well.  I went to different sports camps as a child.  What makes Our Generation Camp different is the emphasis.  We are all about world evangelism.  At Our Generation Camp, you will spend time with missionaries.  They won’t just preach at you during a chapel or evening service.  They will eat with you at the lunch/dinner table, talk with you during the day, spend time with you throughout the week!  There will be missionaries from different parts of the world, China, India, Peru, South Africa, Kenya, Morocco, Argentina and other countries!

Our Generation Camp happens June 08-12, 2015.  It is held at Sand Mountain Bible Camp in Trenton, GA.  The cost is $200.  Sign up today!

Whether you are thinking about being a missionary or not, this camp is a time that God will use in your life.  To register, please click the link below.

Argentina and Eternity

May 20, 2015 by Patrick Leave a Comment

I have been on deputation (the process of raising funds for the mission field) for a year and two months.  In this 14 months, we have seen God bless tremendously!  We will be leaving at the end of March 2016 for the mission field.  God is raising our support.  We have been to wonderful churches who desire to see the Gospel of Jesus proclaimed to all nations!  We have travelled thousands of miles through sunshine, rain, and snow.  We only have a few open services between now and our departure.  I don’t know how else to say it, God has been good to us!

So during our 14 months of deputation, what has transpired in Argentina?  According to CIA Factbook (click for link), in 2014 there were 314,077 people that died! This is incredible considering that 9% of the population profess faith in Jesus (Their belief is in the Lord Jesus Christ as the sole source of salvation through faith in Him, as validated by His crucifixion and resurrection).  91% of the people in Argentina are lost!  When we take that information along with the death rate, we see that of the 35 people that die each hour, over 31 of them go to Hell!

Our deputation is going great, meanwhile in Argentina people are dying and going to Hell.  We need to be in Argentina!  Please pray for us, those missionaries and believers that are already in Argentina, and other missionaries who are on deputation that we will give every soul in Argentina the message of the Gospel of Jesus!

Not every soul will believe, but every soul should hear a clear presentation of the Gospel of Jesus and have the opportunity to believe on Jesus before they die.

Our Default Setting

May 13, 2015 by Patrick Leave a Comment

In computer science, a “default setting” is a setting or a value automatically assigned to a software application, computer program or device. When I was in high school I used a program called “Microsoft Word”. When you opened a Word document, the font that was automatically set for you to use was “Times New Romans”. That font was the “default setting”. To use a different font, the user would have to go in and change the font to the one he desired.

So what does this have to do with missions? I think many of us as Christians have a “default setting” of our own. It is to “stay”. If God calls me to the mission field, I will go, but until He does I will stay. That is our “default setting”. Should God desire us to go, He would change our default setting from “stay” to “go”. I think we have this backwards. I think our default setting should be “go” and we should go with the Gospel of Jesus to the nations of the world unless God stops us and changes our “default setting” from “go” to “stay” (or more accurately “send”, but this is a subject for another post).

Is there any Scripture to back this up? Yes. The Great Commission. Matthew 28:19-20 says, “Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” The very first word is “GO”. It is not “STAY”, it is “GO”. Mark 16:15 says close to the same thing, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Again, the operative word is “GO”.

You may be thinking, “If everyone in my church went to the mission field that would be unhealthy for our church. We wouldn’t have anyone left.” If a church sent out so many missionaries and church planters that they were becoming smaller and smaller, that would be the best problem any church could ever have. I don’t know that this situation has ever existed. What a beautiful “problem” to have.

I encourage you, switch your default setting to “go”. It may be that God will keep you where you are now, it may be that God will lead you elsewhere in the United States or in the world. In God’s program, our default setting should be go. Let us seek to go with the Gospel to every nation, province, city, tribe, neighborhood, village, house, and soul.
