The quarantine continues and so does the ministry. We have our normal services this weekend, beginning with our Friday night youth service via Zoom. Thank you for praying for the ministry God is building. God is continuing to bless. I share with you a great example.

A few weeks ago I had permission (from the government) to visit families in the church. Leslie and I went to almost every family with homemade goodies to a time to encourage and pray with them. We stopped by Leandro’s house. Leandro is a young Christian who is growing and wants to share his faith! He received us into his home and was grateful we stopped by. During the time together, he expressed to me that he wanted to make a video explaining the Gospel to his friends. It would be a way that they might sit down and listen to him. He asked me that when he completes the video, that I would look at it and give him advice. Yesterday he finished the video and sent it to me this morning. The video is 1 hour 15 minutes long! I had the privilege to listen to him go from verse to verse to explain who Jesus is, our spiritual state without Jesus, what Jesus did for us, and how to be saved.

This is such an encouragement to see the desire and the effort that Leandro has. Even though we are not able to have any type of services where we can meet, Christians like Leandro are serving Jesus! Pray that God uses Leandro to further His Kingdom as well as others in the church.

 

A Continued Quarantine and a Stronger Ministry

The quarantine continues and so does the ministry. God is at work and we are so blessed to see it! At the end of June the president of Argentina announced a stricter quarantine for Buenos Aires, where we live. We had permission to go to the church to pray with individuals, but not to have any sort of service. Unfortunately, we lost our permission at the beginning of July, but a few weeks later, the governor started a less strict phase of the quarantine, so hopefully we will be able to do more soon! The Wednesday prayer time at the church had to stop, but this has not stop God from working. I share with you two stories. 

A young lady in our church has been growing by leaps and bounds. She is reading through the Bible for the first time. In July she let us know that she was able to witness to her uncle for the first time. We have taught something we call “the hand”, which include 5 Bible verses that teach  how to be saved. She was so excited to be able to share her faith!

Matías and Brian are training for the ministry. Despite the quarantine they are studying and preaching in some capacity three times per week. It is a joy to see the growth these two young men are experiencing. God is at work, even during this quarantine. We don’t know when this will end, but either way we believe God will continue to bless all that is going on.

We are still in quarantine, but it we are in a more flexible phase. We are still not able to meet yet as a church, but hopefully in the coming months that will change. Our church currently has 3 virtual services and an interactive youth service each week. Last Sunday we had our first “church-wide” virtual interactive service! It was great to see everyone and share Bible verses, prayer requests, and praises. Brother Jason King, our partner in ministry, was able to share a message to challenge and encourage the church. It was a wonderful service that we plan on having again in the near future!

Please pray for us as we continue to serve Jesus in this quarantine. We are seeing God work!

The President of Argentina announced yesterday that those around Buenos Aires will be entering a more flexible phase of the quarantine. This will eventually allow us to start our Wednesday afternoon prayer gatherings with some of the youth! Argentina is a big country and some areas of the country have more freedom from the quarantine than others. We are in the most populous area of the country, and because of that, the quarantine has been more severe. The great news is that it looks like we are starting the process of going back to “normal” (which will be a long process). Obviously all of this can change, but we are very thankful for this next step.

Although we are in quarantine, we are still able to serve, help those in the church grow spiritually, continue to train young men for the ministry, and preach the Bible. Each week we have 3 virtual online services, 2 Bible College classes (for the two young men training), our youth meeting, and very soon we will start back our Wednesday afternoon prayer gathering.

Pray for each of these opportunities, that God is glorified and that the church continues to grow.
