Patience

March 13, 2018 by Patrick Leave a Comment

Becoming patient is not natural, it seemingly goes against our hopes, dreams, and goals. How? Because patience is saying “wait” instead of “do it now, receive it now, achieve it now!” But patience is not a bad thing, it is actually a very good thing, and perhaps better said, it is a godly thing. Patience is defined as “the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, problems, or suffering without becoming annoyed or anxious.” Being patient is waiting on the Lord, it is not “losing it” in an angry fit when things aren’t going your way. Patience is the ability to trust the Lord to reach (or not reach) a specific goal or complete a specific task. It is submitting to the Lord, and putting His will before our wants!

The Bible has many verses on this topic.

“He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: But he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.” Proverbs 14:29

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9

“12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; 13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.” Colossians 3:12-13

For the next few posts, I will be diving into different areas where we as Christians must display patience!

Quick Update: A “Fiesta” in Heaven

March 9, 2018 by Patrick Leave a Comment

I had a wonderful meeting with a couple who has been attending our church. On Wednesday night I sat around the kitchen table of this couple. We opened the Bible and read about salvation. After about 30 minutes I asked Gaston (the man of the house) if he wanted to receive Jesus as Savior, at that moment he believed on Jesus, we prayed and rejoiced over the salvation he now knows he has. We know the angels were rejoicing in Heaven over the salvation of Gaston! Please pray for Gaston and his family to grow in the grace of our Lord!

Looking for Houses

March 6, 2018 by Patrick Leave a Comment

We are in search for a house. The way things normally work here in Argentina is that a rental contract for a house is 2 years. That is actually law, if need be there are ways around it, but it is the norm. Our 2 year rental contract is coming to an end and so we must look for another house to rent, one much closer to the church. I am told that because of the economy, people are hesitant to rent their homes. We are looking for houses in a beautiful area called “Adrogué”. We are praying God will open the doors to rent a house by the end of March. From there we will go through the rental process and hopefully be in the house relatively quickly.

This is not the “fun and exciting” part of life as a missionary, but it is a necessary and an important part of our lives. In the midst of all of this we are blessed to be able to serve in the church. We have special days coming up this month. We will be starting a new series on this Thursday night. We had a young man come to the church for the first time on Sunday night and he told me he looks forward to Thursday night and next Sunday night. So searching for a house is not the only thing going on!

March 2018 Missions Letter

Special Days Ahead

In February we had a very special day in our church. We had the Vision, a time to explain the purpose of our young church. We also had a very special time of planning for the year where our core group came together to share ideas for some special days ahead.

Summer will be coming to an end this month! School starts back, things start going back into a routine which makes for a great opportunity to invite people to come to our church! At the end of the month we will have a special day called “Levi’s Banquet”, we will hold a lunch for all who attend. We will have special invitations made and will really push to invite others for this special day. We are praying God will work in the hearts of all who attend and that we will see people saved! We are believing God for a great day!

Serving Together,

Patrick, Leslie, Lily, Piper, Ivy, and Isla Henry
