This evening we will be with our sending church, Victory Baptist Church in Loganville, GA. This will be the last service before we return to Argentina. In just a few days we will be back! We are very excited about it. There will be much to do and we will “hit the ground running”. I believe there are great days ahead. Please pray for us as we finish packing, as we return, for our families as we say “good-bye”, and for Faith Baptist Church in Lanús, Argentina as we go forward for the glory of God!
A Review of the Summit
The OG Summit took place a few weeks ago. The Summit is a three day event that was held at Lake Lanier Islands in the northern suburbs of Atlanta, GA. I enjoyed it very much this year as I do every year I attend. Here are just a few takeaways…
- The Preaching: It was some of the best preaching and teaching I have heard at a conference. There were many messages, some 2 minutes long, some 10, some 15, and some 20 minutes. I never felt like it was “overkill”. Each message was powerful and clear. The preachers ranged in age and experience in the ministry. There were younger guys studying to be preachers and there were veteran men who have been preaching for multiple decades and of course many in between.
- The Emphasis: There is no doubt what the emphasis is at the Summit. Missions/world evangelism is the theme. Each message, each skit, each session, everything revolved around this subject. The challenge was made clear to each attender. Be a missionary. Surrender to take the Gospel to other places around the world.
- The Sessions: The sessions covered specific countries around the world as well as how to make a strong missions program in your church. There were sessions taught by veteran missionaries, missionary wives, pastors, and laymen. I was personally challenged by the sessions that I attended.
- The Results: By the end of the Summit, we had several people who signed the missionary pledge, a pledge to change their “default setting” from “stay” to “go”, in other words, instead of saying “I will go if God calls me.”, “I am going, but I will stay if God calls me to stay.” We are thankful to see how God worked in their hearts.
The Summit is one of the great highlights of the year. I will be back in Argentina in just a little over a week. I am thankful God allowed me to be a part of the Summit. We are starting to branch out and hold the Summit in other locations. This gives the opportunity for others to go that live too far from Atlanta to be able to attend. More information will be released about the next Summit. It may be held in a city near you very soon.
January 2018 Missions Letter
Returning Back to Argentina!
We will be returning to Argentina on January 18! There is much to do when we return. We will be renting another house closer to the church. We will help find a house for the King family (missionaries in language school). We will complete our residency application and should be official residents of Argentina before the end of the month. The Beckers will arrive for their 6 month internship on February 01. We will need to line up new language school teachers for the Kings and Beckers. We will also be jumping right back into Faith Baptist Church, continuing back with discipleship and preparing for special events in the church over the next two months. There is much more, this is just the “first things first” on the to-do list. Please pray for us as we say good-bye to friends and family here as we return.
Serving Together,
Patrick, Leslie, Lily, Piper, Ivy, and Isla Henry
- Pray for our families as we say good-bye.
- Pray our safe return to Argentina.
- Pray for the Beckers as they prepare to leave for their internship.
- Pray Faith Baptist Church as we return and labor to evangelize, equip, and empower believers.
The Summit in Atlanta Starts Tomorrow
Tomorrow kicks off one of our biggest events of the year. The 2017 Summit in Atlanta officially starts tomorrow afternoon at Lake Lanier Islands. I will be teaching a session entitled, “Unashamed to start churches in Buenos Aires” and I will be preaching during one of the services. Missionaries from around the world will also be preaching and teaching sessions. We will have missionaries who serve in Egypt, South Africa, Japan, China, and of course Argentina. We will also have missionaries who will teach and preach who will be serving in Indonesia, India, Ecuador, China, Myanmar, Bosnia, Colombia, Bolivia, Turkey, and many more. We will have sessions just for women as well as sessions just for men. There will be specific sessions about implementing missions inside your church. Each session will be a blessing. We will also have services packed with insightful biblical preaching along with skits and spiritually uplifting music. This is sure to be an incredible Summit! Please pray that God will work in the hearts of those who are attending, including my heart!
With only 3 weeks until we return to Argentina, this is one of the highlights of the remainder of our time! The great news is that the Summit will also be in Boston in just a week later, but that is for another post, one that will be published shortly. Until then, thank you for praying with us over the Summit in Atlanta.
