The President of Argentina announced yesterday that those around Buenos Aires will be entering a more flexible phase of the quarantine. This will eventually allow us to start our Wednesday afternoon prayer gatherings with some of the youth! Argentina is a big country and some areas of the country have more freedom from the quarantine than others. We are in the most populous area of the country, and because of that, the quarantine has been more severe. The great news is that it looks like we are starting the process of going back to “normal” (which will be a long process). Obviously all of this can change, but we are very thankful for this next step.

Although we are in quarantine, we are still able to serve, help those in the church grow spiritually, continue to train young men for the ministry, and preach the Bible. Each week we have 3 virtual online services, 2 Bible College classes (for the two young men training), our youth meeting, and very soon we will start back our Wednesday afternoon prayer gathering.

Pray for each of these opportunities, that God is glorified and that the church continues to grow.

Meeting in Different Ways

Last month was another full month of quarantine. One of the highlights was that we had the opportunity to visit the members and regular attenders of the church at their homes. It was a blessing to each of them and to us! We encouraged each family and prayed with them, expressing our love for them. 

The quarantine continues in Argentina. The epicenter of COVID-19 in Argentina is Buenos Aires, where we live and serve. Because of this we are very limited to what we can do. We are trying to be creative with the opportunities we have. We host our weekly services online, our weekly Friday youth meeting via Zoom, and weekly prayer and counsel meeting at the church for two hours on Wednesdays. We also publish a daily devotion with the members of the church. The two young men who are training are involved in each service. This is not at all what we planned for this year, but God is using it to continue to grow these two men and we are grateful. 

We are not sure of when the quarantine will end, but it does not look like it will end in July. Please continue to pray for the ministry God has given us. We continue to press on!

Prayer Requests

• Pray for Faith Baptist church during the quarantine.
• Pray for Brian and Matías as they continue training. 
• Pray God uses our online services and other opportunities of ministry to bring fruit. 

Yesterday was our 100th day in quarantine. On Friday the President announced that the quarantine will be extended until July 17 and that the quarantine will be more strict. We are not sure, but from what we understand this will stop us from being able to have our prayer and encouragement time on Wednesday with some of the youth. Even so, we are pressing forward the best we can.

Pray for Matías.

Matías is one of the guys training for the ministry. He has really gone through some tough times these past few months. Last week his father was forced to leave the house because of some accusations made against him. Matías is trying to keep the family together. His father seems to be in some trouble. The great news is that Matías was able to lead him to Jesus! Of course this is a huge blessing, but if the accusations are proven true, his father will be in jail for a long time. He is denying the accusations, but no one really knows for sure. Matías is 25 years old and doing the best he can to lead his family as the “man” of the house. He is very discouraged. We ask that you pray for him and his family.

Today is a special day. It is day 92 in quarantine, but that is not what makes it so special. 16 years ago today I married the most amazing person I know. Outside of my salvation, marrying Leslie has been the greatest blessing and privilege I have ever had. 16 years and 4 children later, we are more in love than ever. It is a privilege to serve God with her. She is an example to our daughters as well as to the ladies in our church. Although we celebrate this anniversary in quarantine, we get to celebrate it together.

Tonight we will have our weekly youth meeting via Zoom. This Sunday is Father’s Day. We will have our special online service. On Wednesday I am able to meet with a few of the youth in the church. We are pushing forward as we are able to during these strange times. Thank you for praying for us.
