The 25 of May

May 24, 2017 by Patrick Leave a Comment

May 25 is just another day for many, but in Argentina it is one of our independence day (yes, we have more than one). Tomorrow is a national holiday here, but we will still have church, and this blog is really more about church tomorrow than about Argentina’s independence.

It happened Sunday night. Our evening service had ended and I was greeting the people who came before they left. A young man came up. He and his family have been coming to the church regularly now. They have also brought others to the church as well. Our midweek service is on Thursday night, which makes it almost impossible for him to come because he has a class he takes on that night. As we chatted before they started walking home, he smiled as he told me that he would be able to come to church on Thursday (which is tomorrow night). “That’s great,” I said, but I didn’t understand why. He told me it was because it is a national holiday (Argentina’s independence) and that his class was canceled.

For many in Argentina, tomorrow will be a day to play soccer, a day to grill asados, and a day to spend with family and friends. I am thankful to see that my friend is going to enjoy tomorrow evening in church, and that he is excited about it! We are a very young church and God is already giving us families who actually want to meet together to worship God and learn more from the Bible! We are praying for more families like this. We have discipleship going on with a few families and hope to start with more in the near future! In other words, these families are also growing.

The 25 of May looks to be another great day at Faith Baptist Church.

Quick Update: Meeting With Families

May 20, 2017 by Patrick Leave a Comment

The past few days have involved meeting in the houses of families who have started attending the church. Although each house is different and each family is in different stages of life, the theme of each meeting is the same, discipleship. It is an honor to open the Bible around the kitchen table with each family, explaining the fundamentals of faith in Jesus. It is just the start. None of the families I am meeting with are familiar with what we are talking about, which makes our time even better. I love watching the eyes light up of a man who is just learning about what the Bible teaches!

Tomorrow we will be explaining what the Bible teaches us about growing in Christ. This is another opportunity to share the Gospel with many who are lost and to encourage those who are saved!

OG Camp 2017

May 18, 2017 by Patrick Leave a Comment

I have posted blogs about this before and I believe it to be worth the time it will take to read about our upcoming camp. The Our Generation Camp will be held on June 19 – June 23, 2017. Why “Our Generation Camp”?  There are all kinds of camps to go to, all kinds of camps to send your kids to, what makes this camp different? Let me answer this question by first stating that I have been to several different camps.  Our church has put on our own camps for years. We have sent our youth and kids to other camps as well. I went to different sports camps as a child. What makes Our Generation Camp different is the emphasis.  We are all about world evangelism. “Reaching the world in our generation” is our theme! At Our Generation Camp, you will spend time with missionaries. They won’t just preach at you during a chapel or evening service. They will eat with you at the lunch/dinner table, talk with you during the day, spend time with you throughout the week! There will be missionaries from different parts of the world including China, Turkey, Egypt, Burkina Faso, South Africa, and Japan! Although we will not be there (because we are in Argentina), we do believe this will be a wonderful week for all who attend!

Again, Our Generation Camp will start on June 19 and will continue until June 23, 2017. It is held at Sand Mountain Bible Camp in Trenton, GA. The cost is $200. Sign up today!

Whether you are thinking about being a missionary or not, this camp is a time that God will use in your life. To register, please go to the link below and click the “Register Online Here” button.

Quick Update: A Guest Preacher

May 14, 2017 by Patrick Leave a Comment

We have had our friend, missions director, and former missionary in Argentina, Jeff Bush with us here for a week now. He has been a tremendous blessing to us! I have been encouraged and challenged by the time I have had with him. Faith Baptist Church has also been very blessed to learn from his Bible teaching! He will be preaching for us one more time tonight at 6:00 PM. This morning I will be preaching out of Luke 15. We are very blessed with every opportunity God gives us to meet as a church in infant stages. Each service is another opportunity to teach and preach the truths of God!

Jeff Bush will be leaving tomorrow night. Please pray for him as he will have a 10 hour flight back to Atlanta. We are thankful for Brother Bush, and thankful for his wife Mindy and their children who share their husband and father with us and many others.
