October 2015 Missions Letter

October 2, 2015 by Patrick Leave a Comment

From Conference to Conference

For many churches, the autumn time of year does not only bring the change of leaves but also a special emphasis. Some dub this time of year “mission conference season”, it is a time when the focus is on what they are going to do to reach the world with the Gospel! One Pastor said it this way, “This is our annual business meeting where we decide the fate of the world in light of the Gospel.” Much of September was invested in different mission conferences, and we have a few more scheduled to be in for October. With a full schedule, we are always in a church sharing our hearts about how God is leading us to Argentina, but mission conferences are a special time in a churches calendar.

Please continue to pray for us as we continue on deputation. We are asking for God’s favor in each church service and for our support to increase. We are currently at 70%. We will leave for the field March 24, 2016.

Serving Together,

Patrick, Leslie, Lily, Piper, and Ivy Henry

In Argentina…

Iglesia Bautista Luz (Light Baptist Church) just celebrated their first anniversary! Pastor Esteban started the church out in an area near La Plata. I have been in this church. I saw the people, I fellowshipped with them after the service. God is blessing this church. Pastor Esteban has worked hard. He trained at Lighthouse Baptist Church. He served there before being sent out to start this church. Please pray for Light Baptist Church that they will continue to grow, that many more will be saved, that men will be trained and sent out to do the same thing that Pastor Esteban has. God is at work in Argentina, but there are many more places in need of a Light Baptist Church! Pray that God uses us to train men to do the same!

September 2015 Missions Letter

September 1, 2015 by Patrick Leave a Comment

March 24, 2016

The date above may just be another day for many, but for our family it is a very special day, a day we have been working toward since March 17, 2014! Lord willing, on March 24 we will be leaving for Argentina! This date was chosen after prayer and consideration of the remaining support we need. God is blessing, we have more to go, and we believe in these last months God will raise our needed support. Please pray for us that we will see this happen by March.

August was an incredible month. We were in 6 different states presenting our burden for Argentina. We had several churches partner with us this month in reaching Argentina! September has us in 6 different states as well. We have several mission conferences during this month. Our hope is that God will work in the hearts of His people to further the Gospel in our Generation. With each meeting we are drawing closer to the conclusion of our deputation.

Serving Together,

Patrick, Leslie, Lily, Piper, and Ivy Henry

In Argentina

I read the caption a few weeks ago in August, “More than 11,000 people had been evacuated by Tuesday (August 11, 2015) from parts of Argentina’s largest province after heavy weekend rains caused rivers to rise quickly.” These floods that hit Argentina every so often are hard on the Argentines. Their lives are totally changed. One woman’s testimony was that this was the third time she has had to leave her home because of flooding. In tragic times like this, a Gospel-preaching church could be there for these communities in an effort to advance the Gospel. That would be great if there were churches like ours in their neighborhoods. For many Argentines, there is no Baptist church to help them. Pray with us for Gospel laborers.

Highlighted Bible Reading – Amos 4

August 31, 2015 by Patrick Leave a Comment

Bible Reading: Amos 4:6-12
Amos 4 gives us a detailed account of God’s “attempt” to bring Israel to repentance.
  • God brought a dearth of food (4:6)
  • God brought a drought (4:7-8)
  • God sent the “palmer worm” to devour Israel’s crops. (4:9)
  • God sent pestilence and death to Israel. (4:10)
  • God overthrew some of Israel. (4:11)
In all these things, Israel refused to turn to God. So what is left? Amos 4:12 tells us “Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.”
God did not bring these judgements on Israel to “punish” them but to cause them to repent. Their refusal to repent brings perhaps the most fearful thing that can be told to a people, “Prepare to meet they God.”  This is obviously not a good thing, but a judgement was coming that would break Israel.
The bottom line is that the pleasure of sin is not worth the cost.

Friday Quick Update: North Carolina in the Morning and the Night

August 28, 2015 by Patrick Leave a Comment

Where We Have Been:  We were in Baton Rouge, LA on Wednesday night. Pastor Buchanan and the church were very kind to us. I was able to present and preach. I had several of the church tell me that God worked in their hearts. To God be the glory.

Where We Are Going:  We will be in Kings Mountain, NC this Sunday morning and in Sylva, NC this Sunday evening. I very much enjoy what God is leading us to do. Sharing our hearts with fellow believers is something we feel very blessed to do.
